Your First Visit
Your initial appointment will be one hour and includes a comprehensive evaluation so we can fully understand your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals.
During your first visit, your chiropractor will:
- Review your health history and current concerns.
- Discuss what’s happening in your daily life and how it may be impacting your wellbeing.
- Perform a comprehensive chiropractic & movement examination.
- Explain their findings in a clear and understandable way.
- Begin building your personalized treatment plan.
- Provide practical tools and recommendations for home care.
Our Approach to Care
We believe healthcare should be collaborative and supportive.
In many ways, chiropractic care with us can feel similar to working with a therapist — you share what’s happening in your life, how your body is responding, and the challenges you’re facing. Your provider listens carefully and gives you tools, strategies, and treatment options to help you navigate everyday life with less pain, more resilience, and improved function.
Our goal is not short-term relief, but helping you establish long-term health and confidence in your body.
Preparing for Your First Appointment
To help make your first visit as smooth and efficient as possible, please complete your new patient paperwork in Jane, our online booking platform, before your first appointment.
If you have questions while completing your paperwork, Elle is happy to help.
Before You Arrive
Please:
- Arrive 15-20 minutes early if your paperwork hasn’t been completed beforehand.
- Bring your insurance card (if applicable).
- Bring any relevant imaging or medical records you’d like us to review.
Completing your paperwork ahead of time allows your chiropractor to spend more time focused on you, your goals, and your care.
Insurance & Billing
We want the financial side of care to be clear, supportive, and stress-free.
We accept a variety of insurance plans and will walk you through your coverage, benefits, and any out-of-pocket costs before beginning care whenever possible.
Don’t see your insurance listed?
Even if you don’t have one of our in-network insurance plans, we can still work with you.
Our priority is making sure you receive the care you need, and we have several options to help make treatment accessible and manageable. Depending on your situation, this may include:
- Flexible payment options.
- Pre-pay Care Plans.
- Out-of-network benefits.
- Customized treatment recommendations based on your goals and budget.
If you have questions about coverage or costs, Elle is happy to discuss with you before your first appointment.
Word On the Street

Patient: K.W.
“The best science-based chiropractic clinic in Portland. The combination of chiropractic care, physical therapy, and massage helped resolve long-standing sciatica from a car accident. I saw an incredible difference.”

Patient: J.W.
“Have had two appointments with Dr. Amy and she has been great! Really listens and seems genuinely interested in addressing issues I have been dealing with. Highly recommend her and Hosmer Clinic!”

Patient: M.L.
“I can’t recommend this place more! I started going while I was pregnant and received the best prenatal care. I get massage and chiropractic care regularly, and I love every person I’ve seen.”

Patient: C.B.
“It was my first visit and I really appreciated the warm welcome walking into Hosmer Chiropractic. I was seen promptly and had a great experience with Matt and Seth. We discussed my calf injury, the plan moving forward, I had some massage work, and left with some PT exercises. I will be seeing Matt and Seth again soon, and I look forward to my return.”
