What is Structural Integration?

Structural Integration is a holistic form of bodywork that focuses on improving posture, alignment, and movement by working with the body’s connective tissue (fascia).

It is best understood as a philosophy of care rather than a fixed set of techniques. Structural Integration is grounded in the principle that the body functions as an interconnected whole — where tension, imbalance, or restriction in one area can affect movement and comfort throughout the entire system.

In practice, this work focuses on how the body relates to gravity and proprioception — your body’s ability to sense its position and movement in space. By improving this awareness and restoring balance in the fascial system, Structural Integration helps the body move with greater efficiency and less strain.

What to Expect During a Session

Structural Integration sessions are performed with the client in a variety of positions, including lying on a massage table, seated, or standing. At Hosmer, most sessions are performed with you comfortably lying on the table.

Clients remain clothed in provided athletic wear, such as shorts and a sports bra or workout top, allowing for ease of movement and proper assessment of posture and alignment. Patients may wear there own athletic wear if desired.
