On Saturday, June 14, 2025, I had the opportunity to lead a posture workshop at barre3 called “Unlocking Better Posture.” I appreciate everyone who came ready to move, learn, and reconnect with their bodies.
If you couldn’t make it—or just want to continue practicing at home—I’ve included links to the exercises we covered during the session. These exercises are simple, effective, and designed to help you unlock better posture from the inside out.
Why Posture Matters
Most of us have been told to “sit up straight” or “stop slouching.” While posture awareness is important, lasting improvement doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from greater mobility and better alignment.
When your body has the freedom to move well, good posture becomes more natural and sustainable. The lessons taught in the workshop will help:
- Maintain healthy spinal curves and balance
- Reduce neck, back, and shoulder discomfort
- Improve breathing and circulation
- Enhance movement efficiency
- Support mental and emotional wellbeing
- Promote digestive and organ health
- Prevent long-term spinal degeneration
Mobility First: The Key to Better Alignment
The main focus of our workshop was this: posture is not just a habit, it’s a capability. You need access to certain ranges of motion to stand or sit in a balanced, aligned position.
Together, we worked through key areas of the spine and explored how breath and body awareness can support a “reset” toward better posture.
Here are the exercises we covered:
- Spine Medicine Ball / Thoracic Foam Roller
A great way to mobilize the mid-back and open the chest - Active Neck Stretch
Targets the cervical spine to reduce stiffness and improve alignment - Lazy Cobra
Helps with spinal extension and gently engages the low back - Full Spine Curl
Encourages segmental motion from the pelvis to the neck - Posture Reset
A breath-based reset that connects mobility with awareness
Final Thoughts
Posture isn’t about perfection—it’s about finding a position that supports both structure and function. Through consistent mobility work, breath awareness, and mindful movement, you can build a posture that feels good, functions well, and holds up over time.
Thanks again to Courtney and her team at barre3 for hosting and to all the attendees for showing up. I hope these tools help you feel better and move better every day.
