More Than Pain Relief: Staying Ready for Whatever the Day Brings

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping people continue doing the things that matter most to them. Sometimes that’s keeping up with their kids or grandkids. Other times it’s enjoying a favorite hobby. And for many patients, it’s having the confidence that their body is ready for the physical demands of work and play.

Neil came to our clinic after living with chronic lower back pain for years. Like many people, he had learned to work around the discomfort rather than address the underlying problems. As a law enforcement officer, he knew his body was one of his most important assets. Long shifts, unpredictable situations, and an active lifestyle away from the badge meant he couldn’t afford to simply “push through” the pain forever.

From our first appointment, our conversations weren’t just about helping his back feel better. They were about creating a plan that would improve how he moved, recovered, and performed — not only on the job, but in every part of his life.

I’ll let Neil share his experience in his own words:

My experience with Hosmer Chiropractic Health and the team at the Oregon City clinic led by Dr. Tylor Justin has been nothing short of life changing.

I had been wanting to get into a chiropractor for a while to treat my chronic lower back issues, but it’s something that I kept pushing off. I had never made it a priority to really work on fixing the problem, I just relied on powering through the pain and discomfort and tried my own remedies like foam rolling and light stretching when the pain was at its worst. One day, I finally just decided what I was doing wasn’t working, and I needed to take a proactive role in my health versus being reactive. That’s when I made the appointment to see Dr. Tylor.

I work hard, and I play hard. Dr. Tylor understands that. During my first visit, I was very up front with him about my physically demanding job and active weekends with family, working in the yard, and trying to keep active. I love all those things, and I don’t want to get to a point where I can’t do them because I’m not taking care of my body. Dr. Tylor understood and immediately started a care plan that I could tell was tailored for me. His initial focus was getting my untreated and underlying issues corrected. Now that that part is completed, we are working on maintenance and recovery. What I absolutely love is the treatment is not solely focused on “adjusting” my body but more about stretching and complex manipulation of muscle groups. I’m a firm believer that this has been the key to keeping my body ready for whatever the day brings. I’m finding I recover faster, have more mobility, sleep better, and the chronic irritating pain is gone.

With all this said, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the importance of Dr. Tylor’s entire team at Oregon City. From the moment you enter the doors, you are greeted by the front desk staff who make you feel welcome and are more than willing to assist you with scheduling, billing, or just answering questions. As part of my care at Hosmer, I have also had the privilege of seeing a couple of the massage therapists, notably Maddie and Ariana. They have been crucial in helping with my chronic aches and pains, on top of just helping with my mental wellbeing by melting all the stress away.

When I say finding Hosmer’s Oregon City clinic has been life changing, it truly has. I never thought a chiropractor could be an all encompassing experience, changing not only my physical wellbeing but also my mental wellbeing. I am so happy I found Dr. Tylor and his team. My only regret was not doing it sooner.

Caring for the Lifestyle You Love

Neil’s story is one we hear often. Many patients come to us after years of simply managing pain, only to discover that addressing the underlying cause can improve far more than they expected.

It’s to help you move with confidence, recover faster, and continue doing the things that make your life meaningful.

At Hosmer, we’re not just helping people manage pain — we’re helping them protect the lifestyles they love.
